About the Artist
Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, James earned his BFA (Bachelors of Fine Art) in Graphic Communications from the University of Houston. He built a successful career in advertising and design, working with several agencies before establishing his own design firm.
Even while immersed in the world of graphic arts, James maintained a lifelong passion for painting. In recent years, he has shifted his focus fully to fine art, embracing the time and space to explore his craft more deeply.
James is drawn to a loose, impressionistic style that captures the light, color, and quiet character of central Texas. His work features the landscapes and rural scenes of Washington County, where he finds endless inspiration near his Burton home. He also paints still lifes, nature studies, and pieces inspired by his travels with his wife, Wendy Cay.
James and Wendy Cay live in Burton, Texas.
